The Institute of Natural Products and Agrobiology (IPNA-CSIC) is part of the network of research centers of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), a State Agency under the Ministry of Science and Innovation. IPNA is a multidisciplinary center whose scientific staff is grouped into three departments: Life and Earth Sciences, Molecular Sciences, and Chemistry of Natural and Bioactive Synthetic Products. The scientific work of these departments is carried out by twelve research groups with diverse scientific and technological lines, involving researchers from various fields of knowledge, enabling the formation of multidisciplinary teams. IPNA’s core purposes include scientific and technological research, knowledge transfer to industry and society, training of research personnel, and public science outreach. The research conducted by the Marine Natural Products Chemistry group at IPNA is primarily focused on discovering new molecules from marine macro- and microorganisms and studying their therapeutic potential. The group has experience in developing and managing research projects funded by competitive public calls, in transferring results to the private sector, in training researchers, and in communicating its activities to the general public.

IPNA-CSIC in NATUR-EXT:

  1. Participation in activities under Objective OE1:
    • Activity 1.1: Bibliographic support for various partners responsible for extracting compounds of interest.
    • Activity 1.2: Chemical characterization of the obtained compounds, mainly by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mass spectrometry (MS).
  2. Participation in activities under Objective OE2:
    • Activity 2.1: Bibliographic support for various partners responsible for extracting compounds of interest.
    • Activity 2.2: Purification of the obtained extracts using various chromatographic techniques and structural determination of the substances, mainly by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mass spectrometry (MS). These activities will support other institutions participating in the project: ICIA, U. Azores, BEA, ITC, ARQUIMEA.
  3. Participation in activities under Objective OE3:
    • Activity 3.1: Chromatographic and NMR analysis of the target products.
